History
The museum was established in 1958 at Guanlin, seven kilometres south of Luoyang’s center. By 1973, the collection was relocated northward to a site near Wangcheng Park, one of China’s largest urban green spaces at 67 hectares. The museum’s current location opened to the public on May 1, 1974, providing expanded facilities for its growing holdings.
