Hunan Museum
The provincial museum of Hunan showcases one of China’s most significant archaeological collections, anchored by treasures from the Han dynasty tombs of Mawangdui.

History
Construction began in 1951, and the museum opened to the public in July 1956. Following decades of operation, the institution underwent major renovation and expansion, closing in June 2012 and reopening on 29 November 2017 with enhanced facilities and displays.
