History
The park was established in May 1935 as a protected area. In 1986, it became part of the New England Group World Heritage Site—Gondwana Rainforests of Australia—a recognition of its exceptional natural heritage. The designation was reinforced when the site was added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007.
