History
The castle’s earliest structures date to the 16th century. Its present appearance owes much to renovations undertaken from 1620 onward under the direction of Duchess Christina of France, who reshaped the building according to Baroque taste. The castle remained a ducal residence before eventually passing to the Polytechnic, where it has served academic purposes since.

Since 1997, the Castello del Valentino has held recognition as part of the UNESCO World Heritage serial site Residenze Sabaude (Savoy Residences), acknowledging its importance within the constellation of ducal and royal estates that defined the power and aesthetic ambitions of the House of Savoy in Piemonte.
