Dersut Coffee Museum

A 600-square-meter museum dedicated to espresso and coffee culture, housed within a roasting company founded in 1947.

At a glance

The Dersut Coffee Museum spans 600 square meters across four thematic sections, plus a dedicated tasting and training room. As a business museum, it traces the journey of espresso from bean to cup. The museum opens by reservation for groups and guided tours only.

History

The Dersut roasting company was founded in 1947 by Marcello De Rosa and Giovanni Suttora, whose surnames merged to create the company name. The Caballini family of Sassoferrato acquired the business in 1949 and have maintained ownership through three generations. In 2010, they established the Museo del Caffè Dersut as a public resource, drawing on decades of expertise accumulated within the company.

What you see

The museum divides its exhibition space into four sections, each exploring a different aspect of coffee production and appreciation. A dedicated tasting and training room allows visitors to experience coffee firsthand. The layout guides visitors through a structured discovery of espresso’s origins, processes, and cultural significance.

Cultural significance

The museum reflects the Caballini family’s commitment to coffee culture and knowledge. It serves both longtime enthusiasts and those new to the subject, while also educating industry professionals—growers, importers, roasters, and distributors—about the global coffee trade. The museum celebrates the collective effort that has made espresso appreciated worldwide.
