Richard Linklater’s Before Sunset (2004) opens in Shakespeare and Company, the English-language bookshop on the Left Bank of the Seine, where Jesse and Céline meet again after nine years. The cramped, book-lined rooms opposite Notre-Dame give the reunion its bittersweet intimacy before a single long walk through Paris.
