Composizione is a painting by Filiberto Sbardella, created in 1943. Sbardella (1909–1983) was a Roman-born painter, muralist, mosaicist, architect and partisan who worked across multiple artistic disciplines during Italy’s modernist period.
Trained under Gustavo Simoni and the encaustic master Tito Venturini Papari, Sbardella exhibited widely from his early teens and graduated from the Accademia di Brera. His work encompassed mural and propaganda painting influenced by Futurism, executed alongside prominent contemporaries including Carlo Carrà, Mario Sironi and Enrico Prampolini. Beyond easel painting, he contributed significant mosaic and decorative commissions to major public and private buildings across northern Italy, among them the Church of SS. Pietro and Paolo in Graffignana, the Temple of the Fallen in San Pellegrino Terme, and the Palazzo Visconti di Modrone in Milan.
