The church was built in the 19th century under the direction of Cons. Peter Alois Bauer and Fruehmesser Alois Moriggl. The interior decoration campaign began with painter Franz Plattner, whose frescoes in the vault were executed between 1862 and 1874—a project that occupied the artist for a significant period.
