Susans Castle
Susans Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in the hamlet of Susans, within the municipality of Majano in the Province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. Perched on a prominent hill overlooking the Tagliamento valley, the castle was one of several fortifications that controlled access to the interior of Friuli during the medieval period. Getting there
Majano and Susans are located approximately 20 km northwest of Udine along the SS13 road (Via Pontebbana). By car from Udine, take the SS13 northward towards Spilimbergo and follow signs for Majano. The nearest rail station is Majano, on the Udine–Gemona line, from which the hamlet of Susans is a short distance away. A car is recommended for reaching the castle site directly.
