St. Nicholas Cathedral

History
The cathedral’s roots trace to 1917, when an earlier church was erected. A parish church replaced it in 1920 under Father Frédéric Sidot, then underwent reconstruction in 1922. Archbishop Colomban Dreyer, Apostolic Delegate to Indochina, laid the cornerstone on 19 July 1931. The brass weathercock crown was installed on 14 November 1934. Interior finishing continued until 1942, with the cathedral’s blessing occurring in February that year. A European cemetery once adjoined the church but is no longer maintained.
