A white tiled station under a thin oval concrete canopy on a single column, built by Arne Jacobsen in 1939 and still selling fuel.
At a glance
On Kystvejen, the coast road north of Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen built this petrol station in 1939 as part of a plan for the Bellevue seafront. The building is clad in white ceramic tiles, and a flat oval canopy of reinforced concrete rests on one slender column. Denmark listed it in 1986. The car wash no longer works and the kiosk has become an ice-cream café, but the station still sells fuel.
