Parco secolare delle Terme, Levico
Georg Ziehl drew Levico’s spa park in 1900 and planted it like an argument — over five hundred species across thirteen hectares, an Austro-Hungarian garden that has only grown grander.
At a glance
The Parco secolare delle Terme is the green setting of Levico’s spa, laid out as the resort was built around 1900. The German garden designer Georg Ziehl drew the plan in 1900; the park was inaugurated in 1905 and covers about 13 hectares — one of the largest and best-preserved historic spa parks in Trentino.

History
When the Berlin company developed Levico’s spa, it commissioned a park to match. Georg Ziehl, a German garden designer, drew the plan in 1900, and the park was inaugurated in 1905. It was conceived as part of the cure — a place to walk and rest between treatments.
Over more than a century the planting has matured into one of the great historic gardens of Trentino, with exotic and native species gathered when the spa was at its Belle Époque height. It remains a public park at the heart of the resort.
What you see
Winding paths, lawns and specimen trees climb the slope above the spa buildings, with the Grand Hotel Imperial at their head. The variety of trees, many planted in the early 1900s, gives the park its character.
The park is open to the public year-round and is at its best in late spring and autumn.
