History
Construction of Parc station was completed in 1931 under the Canadian Pacific Railway, establishing it as a key stop on the company’s network. The railway thrived initially, but passenger traffic declined notably during the 1950s. When Via Rail reorganized service in 1984, operations transferred to Montreal Central Station, and the building closed to rail passengers.
The City of Montreal acquired the property and undertook careful adaptive reuse. The western section was converted into a metro station for the Montreal Metro system, preserving the structure’s transportation function while modernizing it for contemporary needs. The remainder of the building transitioned to commercial use, allowing the heritage structure to remain economically viable.
