History
Andriivskyi Descent stands among Kyiv’s most ancient streets. The museum documents the lives of residents spanning the twentieth century, including Ukrainian philologist Pavlo Zhytetsky, Arabist Taufik Kezma, journalist Anatoly Savenko, and writer Hryhir Tiutiunnyk—all of whom occupied the house at number 34. Its collection also honors professors from the Kyiv Theological Academy and other prominent local figures. In 2002, the museum became the first and only Ukrainian institution to be nominated for the European Museum Forum, an international organization under the patronage of Queen Fabiola of Belgium.
