History
Although the museum opened on 30 October 2010, plans for its creation were proposed nearly a century earlier, reflecting the enduring esteem in which Kuindzhi has been held. The museum remained an active cultural institution until Russian forces damaged its building during the Siege of Mariupol on 21 March 2022. Fortunately, three original works by Kuindzhi stored in the basement survived the attack.
