History
Fung Ping Shan founded the library in 1925 as a gift to his hometown of Jiangmen. The institution began modestly, occupying just 1,250 m² of space. His son, Fung Ping-fan, continued his father’s legacy through further donations that enabled significant expansion. In 1988, a new main building was constructed to accommodate the growing collection. By 2012, philanthropist Huo Zongjie contributed funds to establish a dedicated reading room bearing his name, reinforcing the library’s role as a living center of learning.
