History
Founded in 1989, the museum emerged during Vietnam’s cultural renewal following the đổi mới economic reforms. It was conceived to preserve and interpret the distinctive heritage of Hội An, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for its intact architecture and urban fabric from the merchant centuries.
