Rockwall’s Methodist congregation formed in 1856 and initially worshipped in a wooden building. The congregation commissioned this permanent brick church in 1913, investing over $15,000 in the construction—a substantial sum for the era. What you see
Two square towers rise from the southern corners, anchoring the street facade. Curved Mission-style parapets crown the south and west elevations, their organic lines softening the angular geometry of the brick walls. Round arched doors and windows—a hallmark of Mission Revival—punctuate the facades and draw light into the interior.
Inside, the church originally followed the Akron Plan, a late-19th-century Protestant design that unified Sunday school space for large gatherings while allowing flexible partition of the room into age-appropriate smaller classes.
