City Harvest Church

A Pentecostal megachurch in Singapore that has grown to become one of the nation’s largest charities, despite a notable 2015 conviction of its leadership on financial matters.

At a glance

City Harvest Church (城市丰收教会) is a Charismatic and Pentecostal congregation based in Jurong West, with additional services at Suntec International Convention Centre. The church is a member of the National Council of Churches of Singapore.

History

Founded in 1989 by Kong Hee, City Harvest Church emerged as a Pentecostal institution emphasizing the Great Commandment, the Great Commission, and the Cultural Mandate.

The church’s trajectory was marked by a significant legal episode in 2015, when six church leaders and finance managers were convicted of criminal breach of trust and falsification of accounts. The Appeal Court later found them guilty of basic criminal breach of trust and reduced sentences, noting that the six were not motivated by personal gain and that all misappropriated funds were returned to the church with interest.
