History
The house was constructed by the great-grandfather of Chan Kim Lay, whose family continuously inhabited the property across four generations. In 1986, Chan Kim Lay converted the family residence into a museum, preserving both the architecture and the intimate domestic spaces of Peranakan life. The structure stands among the luxurious homes that gave the street its nickname, “Millionaire’s Row.”
