Pensata già nel Seicento come ingresso monumentale della città per i pellegrini che arrivavano dalla via Flaminia, la “più parigina delle piazze di Roma” deve la sua famosa sistemazione urbanistico-edilizia all’architetto Giuseppe Valadier. Fu lui che ne iniziò lo studio nel 1793, realizzandola definitivamente nel secondo decennio dell’Ottocento. Un’insolita passeggiata, ci condurrà alla terrazza del Pincio, dove potremo ammirare la celebre casina intitolata all’architetto.
