Skyfall — Film Location

The abandoned island of Hashima — the concrete ghost-city off Nagasaki, deserted since its coal mine closed in 1974 — was the visual model for the derelict island lair of the villain Raoul Silva in Skyfall (2012). The production used real views of Hashima for its establishing shots and recreated the rest as a full-scale set and digital model, carrying the island’s eerie decay onto the screen.
