Release Anniversary: La corona di ferro — September 1, 1941
La corona di ferro, Alessandro Blasetti’s medieval epic, brought together Gino Cervi, Massimo Girotti, Elisa Cegani, Luisa Ferida and Osvaldo Valenti. It won the Coppa Mussolini for best Italian film at the 1941 Venice Mostra — a prize the festival’s own later history struck from the record along with the rest of that edition, held, like 1940’s, in the Rossini and San Marco cinemas rather than at the Lido.
