Death Anniversary: Pier Luigi Nervi — January 9, 1979
Pier Luigi Nervi (Sondrio, 21 June 1891 – Rome, 9 January 1979), inventor of ferrocement and one of the greatest engineers of the twentieth century, died in Rome. What remains are the Florence stadium of the 1930s, the Palazzo del Lavoro in Turin, the canopy of the fruit and vegetable market in Bologna and the hangars of the Orbetello seaplane base.
