Death Anniversary: Alfonso Bialetti — March 5, 1970

Alfonso Bialetti (Omegna, 17 June 1888 – 5 March 1970), who invented the Moka Express in 1933, died at eighty-one. His octagonal coffee pot is today among the most widely owned objects of Italian design anywhere in the world, and is in the collection of MoMA in New York.
