Brian De Palma set the first Mission: Impossible (1996) in Prague, where Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt crosses the medieval Charles Bridge as a rendezvous goes fatally wrong. The fourteenth-century bridge over the Vltava, lined with baroque statues of saints, gave the spy thriller a backdrop of genuine antiquity.
