John Parks Almand Dies (1969)

On 24 March 1969 John Parks Almand died, having shaped much of Arkansas’s twentieth-century architecture across a career that ran from 1912 to 1962. His Art Deco Medical Arts Building still rises over Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs, and his Little Rock Central High School — one of the most significant public buildings in the state — endures as his best-known work, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
