La raffinata residenza di Pio IV, sorta nel settimo decennio del 500 su disegno di Pirro Ligorio, incorpora un’elegante vasca-fontana realizzata dall’Ammannati per villa Giulia. Radicalmente restaurata negli anni Venti del Novecento costituisce un interessante esempio incompiuto di sperimentazione tipologica sul tema della villa-palazzo. All’interno del complesso, che ospita l’Ambasciata d’Italia presso la Santa Sede, sale arredate con mobili antichi e dipinti cinque-secenteschi.
