George C. Nimmons Is Born (1865)

A Chicago architect, he became best known for his commercial and industrial work for Sears, Roebuck and Company, designing mail-order plants and department stores across the country — including the Art Deco Sears store of 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky. He also designed houses, among them a Kenwood mansion for the Sears president Julius Rosenwald.
