Filippo Auti alias Auty: «Un artiere irregolare» (An Irregular Craftsman)

Faenza’s Municipal Art Gallery (Voltone della Molinella) hosts «Filippo Auti alias Auty. Un artiere irregolare» (“An Irregular Craftsman”), an exhibition dedicated to Faenza-born artist Filippo Auti (Faenza 1934 – Milan 2007), from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
Conceived and curated by Enzo Biffi Gentili, historian and critic of applied arts, with exhibition design by architect Vincenzo Lega, the show presents 73 works from the Biffi Gentili donation — mostly mixed media on paper — made by the artist across the last four decades of the twentieth century. A well-known figure in Milan’s Brera district, where he sold his work on the street, Auti is regarded as an heir to the most radical strain of Expressionism, working between photomontage, collage and black humour.
The exhibition is organised by the Associazione ex Allievi del Liceo Torricelli in Faenza, with the support of the Comune di Faenza and the Fondazione Banca del Monte Faenza; from October 1 to 4 it is among the official collateral events of MEI — Meeting delle Etichette Indipendenti (Independent Labels Meeting). Admission is free.
Practical information. Free admission. Opening hours have not yet been announced by the organisers: to find out, it’s best to call the exhibition contact, Giorgio Assirelli, at 338 6788393. The official exhibition page is on the website of the Associazione ex Allievi del Liceo Torricelli.
