Feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist — June 24

24 June 2027
RomaVia Appia

The feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist falls on 24 June, one of the oldest dates on the Christian calendar. Rome’s cathedral, the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, carries his name alongside Christ the Saviour and John the Evangelist — not St. Peter’s, this is the pope’s own church as Bishop of Rome, consecrated in 324 and rebuilt many times since. The baptist gave his name to the building that outranks every other church in Christendom.
