Feast of Saint Catherine of Alexandria — November 25

The feast of Saint Catherine of Alexandria falls on 25 November. Saint Catherine’s Monastery, built by the emperor Justinian in the sixth century at the foot of Mount Sinai, takes her name and holds relics believed to be hers, brought down from the mountain where monks found them. It is among the oldest continuously inhabited monasteries in the Christian world — a community that has kept the same rule, on the same rock, since before the building itself was finished.
