Death Anniversary: Topazia Alliata — November 2015
Topazia Alliata died in Rome in November 2015, at 102. She had taken over the family wine business after her father’s death in 1946, then moved to Rome and, in 1959, opened the gallery that carried her own name in Trastevere: a room for painters nobody had shown yet, and a meeting place for artists and writers for the best part of two decades.
The day is not established. Here the sources differ: the encyclopaedia gives 23 November 2015, while the ANSA dispatch announcing her death is dated 24 November. Until it is confirmed, this anniversary is carried at the first of the month.
