Death Anniversary: Louis de Caix d’Hervelois — October 18, 1759
He died in Paris on 18 October 1759 in his house in the rue Saint-Louis-en-l’Île. A devoted pupil of Marin Marais, he published six collections of pieces for the bass viol and pardessus de viole between 1708 and 1748, whose melodic refinement and lyric elegance preserved the aristocratic French viol tradition well into the reign of Louis XV.
