Death Anniversary: Jan Křtitel Jiří Neruda — October 11, 1776
He died in Dresden on 11 October 1776 after more than thirty years in the Saxon electoral Hofkapelle under Johann Adolf Hasse. Born in Bohemia around 1707, he moved to Germany where his celebrated Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major and dozens of orchestral symphonies and chamber trios established him as a master of the galant style.
A note on this date. The exact day of birth is unrecorded in early eighteenth-century Bohemian registers (c. 1707); we celebrate his verified death anniversary on 11 October. We publish it with the warning rather than leave the page out, and if you can point us to a register or an archive that carries it we will confirm or correct it.
