He died in Dublin on 17 September 1762. Renowned throughout Great Britain and Ireland, his treatise The Art of Playing on the Violin of 1751 was the first comprehensive violin manual in English, transmitting Corelli’s principles of tone and expressive rubato to generations of British players.
