Death Anniversary: Alfredo d’Andrade — November 30, 1915

Alfredo d’Andrade died in Genoa on 30 November 1915. He had spent almost twenty years on Palazzo Madama in Turin, directed the recovery of the Roman theatre that came to light in 1899 during work at the Royal Palace, and had the city’s archaeological map drawn between 1887 and 1903 out of what the sewer trenches turned up. Portuguese by birth, he took Italian citizenship in 1912, three years before he died.
