Born in Berlin on 3 July 1709, Princess Wilhelmine of Prussia, eldest daughter of King Frederick William I and sister of Frederick the Great. Trained on the lute by Sylvius Leopold Weiss and in composition by Quantz, she was one of the most accomplished and visionary royal composers of eighteenth-century Europe.
