Birth Anniversary: Vittorio Accornero de Testa — June 1896
Vittorio Accornero de Testa was born in Casale Monferrato in June 1896. He was self-taught, signed his early work Victor Max Ninon and kept the pseudonym until 1934, and illustrated some sixty books — Andersen, Perrault, the Grimms, Poe, and the Pinocchio and Cuore published by Mondadori. In 1922 he married Edina Altara, who was working in the same magazines; they drew side by side until they separated, in the mid-Thirties.
The day is not established. The month and the year are the same in every source we checked, including the library catalogues; the day (18 June) appears only in the encyclopaedia entry. Until it is confirmed, this anniversary is carried at the first of the month.
