Birth Anniversary: Nicola Bonifacio Logroscino — October 22, 1698
Born at Bitonto in Apulia on 22 October 1698. Enrolling in 1714 at the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto in Naples, he studied under Gaetano Veneziano and Giuliano Perugino, quickly developing an extraordinary comic theatrical genius.
A note on this date. The exact day of death in Palermo is unrecorded in eighteenth-century registers (c. 1764); we celebrate his verified birth anniversary on 22 October. We publish it with the warning rather than leave the page out, and if you can point us to a register or an archive that carries it we will confirm or correct it.
