Born in Lyon on 10 May 1697, the eldest son of a lacemaker and cellist. Initially trained as a master lacemaker and professional dancer, he journeyed to Turin to study violin under Giovanni Battista Somis, mastering Corellian sonata principles and developing an unsurpassed technical refinement on the instrument.
