Born in Paris on 30 September 1689, the son of a violinist of the King’s 24 Violons. A pupil of Jean-Baptiste Senaillé, he served the Duke of Bourbon at Chantilly before entering the royal chapel and the Académie Royale de Musique orchestra, where he became premier violon and concertmaster in 1728.
