Birth Anniversary: Gottlieb Muffat — April 25, 1690
Born in Passau on 25 April 1690, the son of the cosmopolitan baroque master Georg Muffat. He studied in Vienna under Johann Joseph Fux at the imperial court chapel, where he was appointed court organist to the Habsburg dynasty in 1717, serving Emperor Charles VI and the young Archduchess Maria Theresa.
