Birth Anniversary: Georg Philipp Telemann — March 14, 1681
Born in Magdeburg on 14 March 1681 into an educated family of Lutheran clergy. Largely self-taught against his family’s wishes, he founded the collegium musicum in Leipzig while studying law and held court positions in Sorau, Eisenach and Frankfurt before establishing himself as one of the most internationally famous composers in Europe.
