Birth Anniversary: Carmine Gallone — September 10, 1885

Carmine Gallone was born at Taggia, in the province of Imperia, on 10 September 1885. In 1942 he directed Odessa in fiamme, the first film made under the co-production agreement between Italian and Romanian cinema, and — in character for a director of opera films — put an aria from Tosca into the middle of a bombing scene.
