Alfredo Gauro Ambrosi was born in Rome in August 1901 and moved to Verona while still a boy, following the courses of the Cignaroli academy as an auditor. In 1923 he left for Brazil and worked in Rio de Janeiro as an official portraitist to president Arthur Bernardes; he was back in Italy within three years. He is remembered as a painter of the second Futurism who worked almost entirely in aeropittura, the painting of flight.

The day is not established. The month and the year are the same in every source we checked; the day (8 August) appears only in the encyclopaedia entry, and the museum and gallery biographies give the year alone. Until it is confirmed, this anniversary is carried at the first of the month.
