Beniculturalionline.it Wins the Palazzo Spinelli Award for Cultural Heritage Technology

On 23 October 2020, at Spazio MAD in Florence, the Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro Palazzo Spinelli awarded its Premio Palazzo Spinelli per l’Arte e il Restauro, in the category “Ricerca e sviluppo di nuove tecnologie applicate ai beni culturali” (research and development of new technologies applied to cultural heritage), to Beniculturalionline.it Associazione Onlus — the association, chaired by Luigi De Marchi, behind BeniCulturaliOnline and, later, Cultural Heritage Online — “per il ventennale impegno dell’associazione nello sviluppo di nuove tecnologie applicate alla promozione e valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale” (for the association’s twenty years of commitment to developing new technologies for promoting and enhancing cultural heritage).

The ceremony combined the VI edition (2019, postponed by the pandemic) and the VII edition (2020) of the prize, and was dedicated to the memory of Franco Sottani, founder and honorary president of the Istituto Palazzo Spinelli, who had died on 20 March 2020. The other 2020 category winners were Assocastelli Associazione (Gestione e Valorizzazione dei Beni Culturali), Maria Costagliola (Conservazione e Restauro) and Rotary Club Lorenzo Il Magnifico – Distretto 2071 (Educazione, Formazione e Trasferimento di Conoscenze e Competenze).
