Battements d’ailes — Yumi Takeuchi and Paul Hommage at Ergastule, Nancy, 30 October – 8 November 2026
Ergastule, an artist-run space at 24 rue Drouin in Nancy, presents Battements d’ailes, an exhibition by Yumi Takeuchi and Paul Hommage, from Friday 30 October to Sunday 8 November 2026. The opening takes place on Thursday 29 October 2026 from 6 pm. The show is open Friday to Sunday, 2–6 pm, and by appointment on other days.
The exhibition closes a Multiple Echo residency, the programme through which Ergastule invites artists to produce a new multiple. For this residency the two artists worked in pâte de verre for the first time, and the new pieces are shown together with complementary works. Cosmic beings and winged animals, with membranes and feathers, act as messengers between worlds; the works look at transparency and at thresholds, the border spaces where distinct worlds can come close and resonate.
Yumi Takeuchi holds a doctorate in art from Kanazawa College of Art; Paul Hommage graduated (DNSEP) from the École nationale supérieure d’art et de design de Nancy. They have worked together since 2013 on video installation and animation, and in 2024 they founded Atelier Archipel, a studio devoted to research and practice in printmaking.
Ergastule runs workshops, exhibitions, a collection of multiples and artist residencies in Nancy, the city of the École de Nancy and one of the capitals of Art Nouveau. Details and visiting arrangements are on the organiser’s page linked below.
