Louis Comfort Tiffany was born in New York on 18 February 1848, the son of the celebrated jeweller Charles Lewis Tiffany. He chose a road of his own, glass, and became the leading American interpreter of Art Nouveau. With «Favrile» glass, iridescent and hand-blown, and with the lamps and leaded windows of the Tiffany Studios, he brought nature — dragonflies, wisteria, landscapes — inside American houses.
