He died at Haraldsmåla near Kalmar on 20 November 1758. As Kapellmeister of the Royal Swedish Court orchestra, he transformed Sweden’s musical life, instituting public concerts and composing monumental masterpieces including the Drottningholm Music of 1744 and Swedish choral church music.
